HOW TO SET UP YOUR RENTAL WEBSITE NAME (domain) & HOSTING
READY, SET, CLICK BELOW - then follow along with our screen shots
FIRST CHOOSE STARTER PACK - FREE DOMAIN :)
First select Starter Pack, you can always upgrade later but this is what I use for most of my business. If you know you need tons of space for data then by all means choose the Plus Package but you should do fine with Starter.
Disclosure: Hi gang. I share companies and/or products because I find them helpful and useful. Please know that I only spend time talking about things that I myself find interesting or useful, but urge you to always put your own goals first, and only spend money on things that will help you! I hope in some small way reading about my experiences and ideas assists you in the execution of your own ventures and pursuits. Some of the links are affiliate links, meaning that at no additional cost to you, I could earn a commission if you decide to make a purchase or visit their website.
Wishing you the best, Von
THEN GET DOMAIN NAME
Your bike rental company should mirror the most common search terms for your rentals in your immediate or broader area so you get maximum traffic. This approach works whether you will be advertising your own rentals or providing a local rental finder information site.
If your business name is Cool Riders Beach Bikes, and your business is in Atlantic Beach, NC. the best web address might be www.AtlanticBeachBikeRentals.com, or if the area name is more popular than the town itself, then consider using it as in; www.CrystalCoastBikeRentals.com. When people click through to your site use your logo at the top to clearly identify your site. This approach allows you to change business names without a hassle, sell space on your site to other businesses, and even sell the domain eventually if you don't need it. You should also consider buying the domain www.CoolRidersBeachBikes.com and use it to specifically talk about your bike rental business. My hunch is that your “town name” bike rental site will get at least 3 times the traffic as your own brand.
Your domain will be free and is included in your hosting package. If you already own your domain use the box on the right. Bluehost will credit your account with a freebie that you can use later, but for now will help you transfer the one you already own.
Make absolutely sure your spelling in your domain is correct before proceeding to the next step.
ACCOUNT SET UP / CONTACT INFO
Just fill in the blanks, no need to add a business name unless you want to.
HOSTING TERMS AND BILLING
The next step is getting your new or existing name hosted. Here's some details about what to pick as you navigate the order. Fill out your name, address, etc. Then submit and you will be taken to the account choice page. Here's what I do:
Account Plan- I usually start with 36 months, but if you want to shave a bit off your costs you can pay a bit more per month to have a shorter plan.
Search Engine Jump Start, Site Backup Pro, and Domain Lock Domain Security are not necessary.
Domain Privacy Protection- I always get this for a personal site, but don't bother for larger business related sites. Definitely select this option if you want your personal phone number and home address hidden from the public.
After you are done setting up your account write down your new domain, your password, and bookmark Bluehost for easy access later.
You will be asked about many other “Premium Upgrades” on the next screen as seen below. You do not need any of these right now, and if you ever decide to get them Bluehost will always be there to sell them to you in the future ;). So make sure your additional upgrade total is zero and click "complete".
Welcome to Blue Host screen is next, click "Create Your Password".
Create a password using upper and lower case letters, a number, and a symbol like $ or %. Write this down. If you click Password Generator it will make a really tough one for you but you're probably better off creating your own. Then click "Create".
Log in time! Log in to your new account using your new website name, without the www. , just as you see in the example and the password you just created.

NEXT STEP CHOOSING A THEME AND INSTALLING IT (ABOUT 1 MINUTE AFTER YOU CHOOSE, SUPER EASY TO DO) The hard part is deciding which cool theme you want. Basically you are going to visit Appearance on your Dashboard in the left hand column, then Themes, then add new. However more on that below as well as VIDEO AND WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS.
CHOOSING YOUR WEBSITE THEME
In preparation for that task ask yourself if you will only be using your new website as a brochure, or if you will also want to do bookings from the site.
There are several types of themes and places to buy them. There are also lots of free themes. This is a huge topic so we'll address that next time. To start the search on your own, click the image below to browse around a bit.
Start thinking about what you want for the following:
Pages you want- (like Home, Pricing, Area Info, Contact, About).
About Me content- An image of your business, your team, and a few of your bikes is a great way to introduce yourself. Say something special about your rentals like New Inventory Every Year, or Voted Best Bike Rentals in Atlantic Beach. Start thinking about the language and type a paragraph or two.
Contact info- Consider sharing FB, Twitter, and your email address. Forms turn people off. Include your hours, full address, and a link to a google map at the very least.
